If you like sandwiches with crazy ingredient combinations that somehow work, you'll love Press On. Press On is a sandwich, soup and salad place with inside and outside seating. Remember these two things. First, Press On is worth traveling to, as I did, because it's No. 7 on the CT Yelp Top 25 Places to Eat List. Second, there's a good chance you'll be near Press On occasionally because it's just east of Foxwoods. Take a chance, make it happen indeed!
Phase One of my order was dine in. I decided on the "Holy Hand Grenade", which had Buffalo Sauced White Chicken, Dried Spicy Salami, Pickled Jalapeño Salad, Romaine and Blue Cheese Sauce on a grinder roll. Basically all the sandwiches had similarly complex makeups. And I was there for it. I also ordered a cup of corn chowder, and my sandwich came with a side of Thai flavored pasta salad.
Everything was great. The chowder had a lovely tarragon flavor and tasty fresh veggies. Every component of the sandwich was really good, and they worked well together. The blue cheese dressing was great. The chicken was tender. The Buffalo sauce was good. The romaine was fresh and plentiful. The thin pickled jalapeños were right on. The bread was fresh and up to the job. All of the ingredients were in the right proportions. Best Buffalo Chicken-based sandwich I've had.
The side of pasta salad at sandwich places is often just a disposable throw-in. Not at Press On. The Thai dressing was outstanding. And the pepitos were a nice touch.
Service was great. I had fun chatting with the whole crew about food, the area, etc. They were so nice, they didn't make fun of me about Phase Two of my order. I texted my wife while I was eating and asked what she wanted. She wanted the exact same thing (she also loved it by the way). I repeat -- they did not make fun of me . . . at least until after I left. Pro service.
Five Stars for Press On. If I lived closer, I'd love to explore all those creative sandwiches.Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 0Business owner information

Fresh, delicious and friendly staff. The salad was so crisp and green. Sandwich was a great size-only thing i didn't understand was the teeny tiny side of pasta salad. Will definitely go back.

Worth a drive off I-95! We sought the Holy Grail and found it here - a delicious pastrami sandwich that we shared with sides of cole slaw. Sandwich makers very friendly, a very popular place, glad we came after the midday rush!

Press On Sandwich Crafters is what food should be like all of the time! FRESH!!!
The setting was perfect... nice bright sunny day, perfect weather to eat outside. Love that there is plenty of outdoor seating, but also inside seating if weather isn't permitting or outdoors isn't your thing.
The owners were super friendly, warm and welcoming. Their son was present that day and you can tell he was raised properly. He was just as warm and friendly, plus he had manners. This place definitely has top notch customer service and an awesome down home family vibe.
Sometimes with smaller family businesses when the service is superb, it's to compensate for lackluster food, but Not here. The food was just as awesome!!!! They have a well thought out menu of sandwiches with salads, soups and sides. And when I say thought out, I mean from the various breads to the toppings, the proteins plus sauces and spreads.
I'm not really a mayo or creamy dressing person so not to change their creations, I tried the Trojan Rabbit which was herb Roasted veggies with garlic confit and hummus on a whole wheat wrap. DEEELICIOUS! You could really taste the freshness of the veggies. For my side I chose the pasta salad. I didn't know what to expect, but omg DEEELICIOUS. It was made with some type of yummy peanut sauce. I also wanted to try their special that day which was Zesty Chicken Chili!!! DEEE... u know the rest! I need a whole pot of that chili to take home. So Awesome!!! Can't wait to try more specials
Everything was fresh. Everything was house made without shortcuts.
Not too far from Foxwoods, I Definitely recommend eating lunch at Press On, esp to escape the World and have that Perfect afternoon just like in the movies!!!Helpful 9Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0Business owner information

Just had a great lunch. The Holy Grail and a roast beef sandwiches were both excellent and big enough that we will have the other half for another lunch. Nice place, nice ambience. We will be back.

Yeesh.
We arrived at the end of the lunch rush. 12:45.
There were seven or eight people there waiting for orders to come out.
No problem, we slid up to the counter to order but the layout of the counter was weird. No signs except the hanging menu boards.
So we walk around to the side opposite the entrance and order. Two sandwiches plus tip is almost $40?
For paninis?
We order, then sit to wait. 40 minutes goes by. For paninis???
Sandwiches were really good but damn. Not worth the price and the wait.
Recommend skipping this place as there are loads of sandwich shops around that don't take 40 min to make two sandwiches.
If it was the best Reuben ever, maybe... But this was a "good" Reuben and not spectacular.
The bread was lightly toasted, there was a little t of meat but the pickled egg didn't add anything really.
Meh.
Nice people, nice place though the layout was confusing and a good sandwich.
It's not worth the wait or the pricesm
10/10 will definitely drive on by next time.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Layne Z.Los Angeles, CA36341Jul 26, 2023

Slow service. Watched multiple people get served that walked in and ordered much later than us. Six of us walked in at the same time but paid separately. I asked if my sandwich was done and he said they were waiting for all the sandwiches and I said "I only had one sandwich." By the time I got my sandwich it was cold because it sat there for almost an hour. Wouldn't recommend and didn't go back. Place is overpriced as well.

This is not an exaggeration, Press-On has the best sandwiches in the area by far. The depth of flavor is incredible as they build complex flavors in each sandwich. The soups are quite good as well. If you live in the area or are traveling on Rte 2 in North Stonington you owe it to yourself to stop in for lunch or early dinner. You can do takeout or eat inside or outside.
